Time for School

Now that you have seen a little bit of the city, I think it's time we go to class.

Welcome to the Universite de Jean Moulin - Lyon 3. This building used to be a tobacco factory, so the students now call it "the fac" for short.

Some times we have classes late at night. To keep all the bored students awake, the University lights up!

Cobblestones and Silk

The city of Lyon is one of the oldest in France. In fact, the Romans once lived here!

Look Avery, there is the Saône! See that cathedral in the back? It's called Notre Dame de Fourviere. After we have a look around Vieux Lyon, the oldest part of the city of Lyon, let's climb up to the cathedral, I heard there is a great view of the city!

Welcome to Vieux Lyon, Avery! Be careful, the streets are not very level, they are made of cobblestones!

Hey! Where does that door go to? It's looks like a passage! Are these the traboules of Lyon? They are! Did you know that these can only be found in Lyon? The pass from building to building, and a long time ago, traders of silk, soie in French, would use them to protect thier silk while transporting it! Neat, huh?

Wow, we made it to the cathedral, Avery! Look at the view!

First Stop!

Wow! Look at that river...it runs right through the city! In fact, there are two rivers which divide the city. They even make an island in the middle of the city!

This one is called the Rhone. The other one is just across the bridge, it's called the Saône.

Getting around

The French love nature. So what better way to enjoy, and protect, nature than to offer public bicycles! These "velovs" are free to use and for everyone to enjoy!

Allez-y, Avery! Lets go for a ride!

Bienvenu!

Bonjour Avery! Bienvenu à Lyon!

Welcome to Lyon, Avery! You must be tired from your flight across the ocean. Maybe you would like to sit and have a coffee? The French like their coffee small, like an espresso, but it is the perfect size for little Avery!

Un café, s'il vous plaît!
